Marketing Strategies for Your Business

So, what are these secret success pieces that we're looking for? You might have heard of them or even used them, but you did it wrong, and that's where the issue is.

Visibility

You might be thinking that if you opened the company, the whole world would be going to see it and purchase your services. Well, unfortunately, or maybe, fortunately, this is not really true. Your main goal is to make your company visible to as many people as possible. And here comes marketing.

One-liner

Create a one-liner that will represent your business the best. A one-liner is a simple and catchy sentence that will help you grow your business. How do you create one?

  • Identify what the problem that your customers are having is.

  • What is the solution to this problem that your company helps to resolve.

  • Show the result that your customers are experiencing right now after using your company.

Here's an example of the Dentist's office one-liner from Marketing Made Simple by Donald Miller: Most parents get stressed when they think about taking their child to the Dentist. At Kid's Teeth, our fun and welcoming office puts kids at ease so they aren't afraid, and their parents actually enjoy their dentist visits.

Professional website

Everyone needs to have a website, no matter what business you're having. It's like the online business card that helps people to learn about you and your services. If you have no information about how to create a good selling website, please refer to the company or individual who will be able to assist you with it. I will share a few fundamental principles that every website needs to have, and if you have any questions, you can contact me to have a private session to discuss your business website and what needs to be changed.

First and foremost, keep it clean and simple, and do not use insider language. You want to tell customers what your business is and how you can help them. Don't use pop-up screens or autoplay videos, especially those with unmuted sound. These all are a big no-no. I recommend you to read the book Marketing Made Simple by Donald Miller. There's a whole chapter 5 about website creation and what needs to go where. In case you want to go through this process yourself.

Generate leads

No one wants to share with you their personal details unless they see the value. See how you can provide that value. For example, create a guide or checklist that you can share with your audience. They will need to provide their personal information to download it. For example, you could send the pdf file to their email address.

Email Marketing

Again, when you send an email, it is important to show how you will solve your customer's problem. Make your title catchy and clickable. Offer value. Give discounts—showcase success stories. Send customers back to your website. Keep them short. Have a call to action button.

Provide excellent customer service

Think about it this way, even if you created a great website, generated leads, and got a million responses from your email marketing campaign, but then your customers are not getting the right experience they hoped for, your company won't survive. It's all about keeping your customer happy, so they can pass your information along and bring you more customers. It is free marketing for you. So please, make sure you have excellent customer service processes in place.

Online Presence

Try to be in every niche possible for your business. There are so many online marketplaces and websites to give your company a wider online presence. Let me share the most popular ones.

  • Google business listings, AKA Google my business

It's a great way to promote your company for free. There are also paid ads available, as on almost every marketplace, if you want to go bigger. But you can also start with a free listing. And with the right keywords and organization, you can have another free source of lead generation for your business. One very powerful thing about Google business listings is that it gets verified based on the location. And if you're a local business, that would be easier to target customers around you.

  • Google Ads

Google Ads is a well-known source for getting leads. I would even say it is the best way after the organic one. Google Ads lets you create and manage different campaigns in different locations. You pay for clicks when someone actually visits your company's landing page. It's very flexible so that you can decide on the amount and campaign duration yourself.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO is what every website needs to succeed in the Internet world. It is the process of getting traffic from free, organic, editorial, or natural search results in search engines. Note that some website constructors won't allow you to do much SEO, so the best one I would recommend you to go with is WordPress. Whether you're just starting and know no code, you can use it, or if you're a professional developer, WordPress will be great for you. I wish I could give you an SEO tutorial, but unfortunately, I haven't studied it, as it's too complex, so I was always hiring someone to do it for me. That is also what I recommend to you is to have a good digital media company to help you promote your business.

  • Your industry marketplaces

These are other powerful places to promote your business and meet potential customers. Check out the following marketplaces based on your field and see what works best for you: Yelp, Angie's List, Thumbtack, Best Buy, Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, eBay, Home Advisor, BBB, Glassdoor, Skillshare, Udemy, OpenTable, TripAdvisor, Airbnb. There are lots of them, depending on whom you're trying to reach. So explore what works best for your business.

Social media channels

Every business needs to be on all social media platforms. Make sure you adapt your content to each. Let's go through the most popular platforms and how you can promote your business there.

  • Instagram

It is one of my favorite social media platforms, as that's where I started my journey as a blogger. Instagram has always been a photo-sharing app until recently it introduced Reels. Now it's becoming a video-sharing app that Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, has officially confirmed. Reels now is the best way to promote your page. The Reels Play Bonus Program is also available on Instagram from July 2021, which offers financial rewards to creators who post on Reels. In order to sign up for the bonus, you need to be invited by Instagram itself.

So, how can you promote your business on Instagram?

First, connect your Instagram account with a Facebook business page. That way, you'll be able to boost and promote your posts throughout the Instagram and Facebook marketplaces to the audience you like with the budget you have.

Then, make sure you have a bio that stands out and explains who you are and how you help your customers.

Check your highlights and save the information that tells more about you and gives your customers value.

Create reels, as that's the best way to promote your content for free.

Use the shop tab to promote and sell your products through Instagram.

  • Facebook

The best and most used way to promote yourself and your products on Facebook is Facebook targeting. You can select whom you want to target and how much to spend. You can also choose to have your ads in different placements across Instagram and Facebook.

There's also a way to promote your services in different groups. Some of them will require you to pay for posting, and some are absolutely free. So check out your local groups and see which fits you best.

Try Facebook marketplace for selling your products if that's something your business does. Make sure you use the right keywords to target more people.

  • YouTube

Great platform to share longer videos and grow organically. Although, there's a huge trend on 15-sec shorts now on YouTube that promotes your videos organically. So you can focus on creating short videos, make sure you select the right keywords and the popular music for the background, and Voila! Your channel is growing organically. There are many courses on how to create a Youtube Channel and film great content. I would recommend you take Marina Mogilko's course. There's so much to learn, even from the technical side, that I would definitely get a specialist's guidance. The rest of it is just whatever you're passionate about and want to share with the world. It is so easy now with all the new technology.

  • TikTok

The fastest growing social media at the moment. If you don't have an account, please register one as soon as possible. Now that I started constantly posting on TikTok, I'm getting 30 new subscribers daily. The more you post on this social media, the better. According to Gary Vee, you should post at least eight pieces of content on TikTok to increase the number of followers and get a better engagement.

To be honest, it doesn't really matter what social media platform you're going to start with, as the most crucial part of it is you and your content. The rest is just the platform recommendations and requirements. The only thing I would recommend you is to make sure you have a legit platform that is not going anywhere, and in case it does, you have another way of connecting with your audience.
